Hello, everybody and a happy June to all, however slightly belated!

So, as I stated in my last post, I was headed down to Queens, New York feeling a bit unhealthy yet but determined to take care of some legal business and my guy, who was feeling worse than I was. Monday I was slapped with a ticket for having an expired inspection sticker on my vehicle. Since I was not able to attend to the matter on Monday I did not, thinking that it could wait until I got back home. NOT! On Tuesday morning, I woke up to another ticket for the same offence!

Seeing as these enforcement officers were deadly serious about the issue, I got my butt and my car to an inspection facility where they charged me $40 to inspect a car that had nothing wrong with it. Then I headed over to the City offices where they process these tickets thinking that surely, the second ticket will be dropped as I'd just come from getting the car inspected!

First they wanted to know if I wanted the tickets reduced to $43 each, to which I answered 'No' since the original fine was $65 each and I anticipated having the second one dropped. NOT! By the time I got to see a 'judge', I was told by this cranky, unsympathetic woman, that because I had not been hospitalized with my illness, and because the tickets were given on two separate days, she would have to uphold both tickets for the full dollar amount! Then she said-ever so sweetly-'Get better'. What would you have answered?

Who says 'I love NY?'

As to the other legal business, a small claims affair, the defendant decided they wanted a postponement so we will have to go back and try it again in August.

So much for making progress and taking care of business!

On top of that, the damn Mets lost both games to the Pirates while I was down there!

I'm glad my man got to see the doctor on Monday and was physically feeling a little bit better when I left today, albeit as cranky as ever. All in all, it was not a pleasant excursion for me on any level and it's good to be home!

By the way, who has the best suggestion for remembering when your vehicle's inspection is due to expire? (For those of us who don't have a 'wife'!)

Until tomorrow then....

Cin

Well they do put a little sticker on your car with the month punched out...but you'd have to look at it for that to have an effect.
